Comparison
Toll rates by country
Spain, Portugal and France share the per-segment per-category toll model. Practical comparison of operators and cost per km.
Spain
After the reversion (2021-2022), most toll motorways are managed by the State (MITMA) via Vía-T. State motorways (A-1, A-2, etc.) are free.
Portugal
Network divided into Brisa, Ascendi and AE Portugal concessions. Electronic payment via ViaVerde. Some ex-SCUT became toll roads.
France
Autoroutes managed by concession companies (Vinci, SANEF, APRR) under State supervision. Toll via badge télépéage or booth.
Key differences
All three networks use the same principle (category × segment). The difference is who sets rates (State in ES/PT vs concessionaires in FR) and the payment device (Vía-T / ViaVerde / badge télépéage). Tolls Calculator unifies the calculation using each operator's official rates.
