Toll categories for trucks
In Spain, Portugal and France trucks are classified by number of axles and height. The category determines the rate per segment.
Category 3: 2-axle truck
Rigid trucks and tractor-trailers with 2 axles (height > 3 m). Most common for distribution trucks.
- SpainCat 3. Per-segment Vía-T toll.
- PortugalCat 3. Per-segment toll (Brisa/Ascendi).
- FranceCat 3. Per-segment toll (Vinci/SANEF/APRR).
Category 4: 3+ axle truck
Articulated trucks and tractor-trailer combinations with 3+ axles (height > 3 m). Highest toll rate per segment.
- SpainCat 4. Vía-T maximum rate.
- PortugalCat 4. Maximum rate on all motorways.
- FranceCat 4. Second highest rate after cat 5.
Example: Vigo → Paris
A Vigo–Paris route (~1,050 km) via AP-9, A-1, A-6 and French motorways (A63, A10) costs approximately 120-140 € for a cat 4 truck, depending on the exact segments.

Is truck toll the same in all three countries?+
